Celebrating 250 Years of Freedom

What does Freedom mean to You?

Freedom means different things depending on our life experiences, yet at its heart, it is one of our greatest blessings.

Freedom is the ability to express ourselves with respect. It is the opportunity to become the very best version of ourselves. Freedom offers the privilege of pursuing our dreams, choosing our beliefs, building a meaningful life, and contributing our unique gifts to the world.

Freedom allows us to seek truth, make informed choices, care for our health, raise our families according to our values, and live without fear. It gives us the opportunity to be a light in times when the world may seem filled with uncertainty and division.

Our Ancestors Sacrifice

Nearly 250 years ago, courageous men and women risked everything to establish a nation founded on the belief that liberty is a God-given right. Their sacrifices remind us that freedom is never guaranteed—it must be protected, cherished, and passed on to future generations.

Today, we continue to face challenges that test our commitment to truth, personal responsibility, and individual liberty. While opinions may differ on how best to meet those challenges, one principle remains timeless: a free society depends upon citizens who are willing to think independently, act with integrity, and treat one another with dignity and respect.

As someone whose ancestors helped build this nation generations ago, I feel deep gratitude for their perseverance, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in the promise of America. Their legacy reminds me that every generation has the opportunity—and the responsibility—to strengthen the foundations they worked so hard to establish.

As we celebrate this milestone in our nation’s history, may we proudly honor those who came before us. As the flags wave and fireworks light the evening sky, may we pause with grateful hearts for the blessings of freedom and recommit ourselves to building stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future.

Wherever and however you celebrate, I invite you to remember this simple truth:

Freedom. Love. Power.

Freedom without love eventually becomes division.
Power without love eventually erodes freedom.
But when power is guided by love and rooted in truth, freedom endures.

May we each choose to be a source of hope, courage, and light—for our families, our communities, and generations yet to come.

Happy Independence Day 250!

Many Blessings of Freedom,
Lois Hermann
